We (Classic Idaho Vintage Restoration) bought this car to rejuvenate. We were told it had been in a barn for a couple of decades. It was ripe for some tender loving care. We have done that, now it is ready to be enjoyed. We do this because we enjoy rescuing these vintage vehicles … not for the money as we have over $24k in this Volkswagen. But we are selling below market price so we can restore another car this summer. Hagerty and Old Cars Guide lists the value at around the $24k. Our price is $18k or make us an offer.
During our one-year commitment to this VW we have done the following:
New parts: Starter, Fuel Pump, Battery, Spark Plugs and Wires, Fuel Hoses, Fuel Injectors, Gas Tank, Tires, Wheel Bearings, Disc Brakes, Master and Wheel Cylinders, Floor Mats, Door Panels, Trunk Liners, and many other pieces and parts.
Repairs made: Complete fuel system replaced, complete electrical system replaced, complete brake system that has been upgraded from brake drums to disc brakes, powder coat rims, all wheel bearings replaced, and replacing/repairing many age-related components.
The car upholstery is very good, clean, and comfortable. The top is in good condition. The paint looks original and is well preserved. There are a couple of small dents (beauty marks!). The front deck lid fits a little crooked, I think it is a problem with the spring on one side. The chrome is all good. The aftermarket radio needs speakers.
Drive and enjoy “as is” or use this as a candidate for a full restoration and turn it into a $40k knock-out.
